At Redbridge you can really benefit from the legacy of the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games, playing badminton in the official Games Time Training Venue, the impressive Jean Brown Indoor Arena, which offers 12 indoor courts and is now home to the entire Redbridge programme, which is led by Badminton Development Officer, Joe Sheehan. Badminton is the most played racquet sport in the UK, with almost 1 million people playing regularly! It’s officially the fastest in the world – the shuttle is smashed around the court at speeds of up to 180 mph, the same speed as a Eurostar train!

Redbridge is home to some of the best squash players in the country, but don’t worry – players of all levels can enjoy the sport, with something on offer for everyone. According to a recent report by Forbes magazine, squash is “the world’s healthiest sport” and is played in over 175 countries by over 20 million people – and here at Redbridge Sports and Leisure, you can be one of them! A great all round sport, racquetball is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK – and it’s not hard to see why. Superb as an aerobic workout to raise your fitness levels as well as being huge fun, racquetball is similar to squash but easier to play, with a bigger racquet and bouncier ball; you can play individuals, with a partner, or you can even play doubles, which is as entertaining to watch as it is to participate in!
