Odell Lewis


In your own words, tell us how you got started or what inspired you into this industry?

I’m Odell Lewis the Gym Supervisor at RSL Gym; I became involved in the Sports and Fitness industry from an early age, I progressed from an active kid who took part in school activities including athletics days and cross country’s races to a young teenager who ran for Blackheath Harrier’s athletics club at a competitive Level.

From there I realised I had a ‘love’ for fitness and wanted to progress through the industry learning as much as possible and picking up as much experience on my way.  I managed to work in all aspects of the fitness industry from Membership/Sales, Gym Instructing, 121 Training, Customer Service and Management. After working in all these fields my passion still lied in the Gym, working with people and helping them to reach those achievable goals that are sometimes perceived as unachievable.


What do your members say about your classes/instruction style?

Generally members don’t  tend to like me at the time but they always thank me after!

I’ve been told my training is very intense due to the fact I stick to strict rest periods through a session.


What makes your classes interesting?

Interesting question, I’d like to think that any one who attends one of my classes walks away feeling they’ve achieved something they wouldn’t have on their own accord and that I’ve somehow managed to help them and motivated them to push them that little bit extra than they was actually mentally prepared to go by themself.  My Instruction is very goal orientated working to towards the member’s individual needs dependent on the their levels of fitness.  I tend to use a lot of functional based exercises using body weight, kettle bells ,Trx’s and powers bags .


What are your 3 fave musical tracks do you like to work out to?

  • Rocky “eye of the tiger” sound track lol 100% motivational music
  • House Music
  • Bob Marley


What have been your 3 greatest achievements to date?

  • Successfully getting  the Job as the new Gym Supervisor at RSL Gym
  • Managing to complete a 5 week intensive Fitness Training Camp in Thailand, which involved being picked up from the airport and dropped in the middle of nowhere.  It involved 5am runs up very steep hills and 5 hours of training a day including; Boxing , Wrestling, Cross fit and Weights.   Let just say it was mentally challenging LOL.
  • Helping a stroke patient to increase her activity levels and strengthen arms and legs after a major stroke
