Members Update Fri 5th June 2020

As noted in the recent email to all users, we are making plans to re-open once Government guidance allows. UK Active and Community Leisure UK (leading industry bodies), have been in discussions with Public Health England about the timetable and adjustments we are required to make in order to meet the Government’s Covid-19 Secure status.
While we await the official announcement, we are working towards being allowed to re-open in early July.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to bring back all facilities and activities immediately due to the need to accommodate social distancing and provide a secure playing environment. Although we await detailed guidance on exactly which sports and activities can be re-opened, we are working on the basis that changing facilities, health suite, bar + coffee shop, junior course programme and organised social sessions will not be permitted for the time being.  As we receive formal confirmation of which sports and activities can be re-started, we will let you know.
We will be providing a weekly update to you as the picture is made clear to us. These updates will provide more detailed information which will include:

  • A list of which sports and activities we plan to re-start and when.
  • Details of our new cleaning procedures, sanitisation schedules and disinfection protocols.
  • The physical things we are putting in place to meet social distancing requirements and ensure your safety and that of our staff (such as queuing systems, one-way movement, signage).
  • Photos of these measures, as well as a user guide, to help you familiarise yourself with how the Centre will look and feel when re-opening.
  • The changes we are making to timetables in order to reduce the risk of over-crowding. (reduced capacities, staggered start times).
  • Increased spacing of equipment and the creation of a second gym area.
  • On-Line bookings and cashless payments.

Thank you to those of you who took the time to complete our on-line survey. Feedback from members suggests that the majority are very keen to get back into exercising at the Centre, once the appropriate safety and hygiene steps have been implemented.
We appreciate that individual members will have different requirements on re-opening the facilities. We will let you know our plans for re-instating memberships and in order to be flexible, this will include the option to extend the membership freeze for anyone who cannot return or would like a little longer before committing to return to their regular activities.
We are extremely grateful for your continued patience and understanding, and hope to be able to welcome you back to the Centre soon.

Chief Executive
