Members Update Wed 17th June 2020

We anticipate a Government announcement within the next fortnight, in which we expect to receive confirmation that Leisure Centre’s can re-open from Monday 6th July.

Working to this timescale, we are gathering momentum with our preparations to welcome members back into the Centre; and want to continue to provide re-assurance to you over the steps we are taking to create a safe, hygienic and welcoming environment for all users. We are fortunate to have large spaces and floor areas at our disposal which we will make full use of for your safety.  We will exceed social distance requirements where we can.

Our Covid-19 Secure plan for re-opening includes:

  • Adjusted opening times of 8am – 10pm on weekdays & 8am – 6pm on weekends; this will be regularly reviewed
  • A stringent new cleaning regime, with cleaners working throughout Centre opening times to allow continual sanitising of touchpoints, and scheduled cleaning before and after all gym and class sessions.

  • A social distancing queueing system outside, with staggered activity start times to reduce the likelihood of queues forming

  • Directional signage and social distancing markers throughout buildings, with one-way system in operation where required.

  • Hand sanitiser points at entry/exits to facilities around the Centre

  • New Perspex guard screens at Reception

  • Enhanced use of online booking and payments in advance of activities, with contactless and cash-free payments available

  • Social distanced fitness equipment and workout stations within the Gym and Sports Hall (with booking system to control numbers, which will to a reduced capacity)

  • A reduced capacity with distanced workout stations in the aerobics studio
  • Relocated Spinning Zone in the Sports Hall, with socially distanced bikes

  • Sports facilities adapted for Social distancing, with playing guidelines in line with Sporting National Governing Body guidance (where applicable). This will includes singles-only bookings (other than playing within the same household)

We are reliant on all staff and users assisting us in delivering a Covid-19 Secure environment by supporting and complying with the above plan – a sample of the safety information signage, which is being posted around the Centre, is shown below.

So that we can focus on delivering the plan effectively we will not be opening changing facilities or the Health suite, and we will not be operating any Adult or Junior programmed activity during the initial phase of re-opening. The bar & catering facilities will also remain closed at this point, although drinks will be available from vending machines/reception. Some toilets will be open and will be regularly cleaned throughout the day.

Please look out for our next update, which will focus on the schedules and bookings requirements for the first phase of re-opening, as well as the options around reinstating memberships. We hope to release the first bookable slots at least a week prior to re-opening (subject to receiving Government confirmation of the re-opening date)
