Members Update Weds 7th April 2021

We hope you are keeping safe and well, and have been able to enjoy the early stages of the easing of national lockdown.
We are now in the final days counting down to the return of indoor activities at the Centre from Monday 12th April. Advanced bookings are now open via RSL Mobile app or Online Bookings for Gym, Outdoor Group Exercise and Rackets courts (same household only at this stage); as well as Outdoor Tennis courts being available to book and play now.

We appreciate that the lockdown has been hard physically and mentally for many of you, and we’re keen to help you get back into a healthy routine as soon as possible.
The last year has been incredibly challenging for the Trust as well, and it is only through extensive bank borrowing that we have been able to survive the closure and re-open our doors to the local community.

Normal membership charges will apply upon re-opening, (with no increases as would have been due on 1st January 2021) however, as we remain committed to honouring credits for memberships and for advanced course payments there will be no direct debit collections made prior to 3rd May.
While we understand that your membership benefits may not fully resume from day one, we hope you will make the most of what is immediately on offer and help us to re-grow in the months ahead – with the Trust facing a tough financial climate with repayment of loans already upon us, we are not in a position to offer any extension to frozen memberships once the Centre re-opens.

The support of you all, our valued members as well as the local community is essential in seeing us into our fiftieth year in 2022 and beyond – we thank you for your support.
It is encouraging to note that we have successfully applied for funding to support our recovery through a dedicated Sport England fund. While this is a drop in the ocean compared to the losses of the last twelve months, it will certainly help through the early months as activity levels begin to pick up again.

This funding comes with the requirement to monitor the levels of participation, and as such we are asking all users to help us by completing a brief survey HERE. All responses will be linked back into our membership database to ensure compliance with our data protection policies.
We thank you in advance for your assistance, and look forward to welcoming you back into the Centre soon.
