Celebrating Ghana: TARACC Hosts Cultural Evening Honouring Ghanaian Heritage

The Association of Redbridge African Caribbean Communities (TARACC), an unincorporated community group serving members across Redbridge and surrounding East London boroughs—including Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, Barking and Dagenham, Newham, Havering, and parts of Essex—recently hosted its second cultural celebration event.

This year, the spotlight was on Ghana, with the Ghanaian community uniting to honour the nation’s rich heritage. Held at Redbridge Sports & Social Club in Barkingside, Essex, the evening brought together vibrant presentations showcasing Ghana’s culture, history, cuisine, music, and most importantly, its people.

Guests enjoyed traditional food and drink, experienced the rhythms of Ghanaian music, and engaged with a powerful cultural display that highlighted what makes Ghana unique today. A symbolic flag handover to Dominica closed the evening, marking it as the next nation to be celebrated at TARACC’s future event scheduled for 2026.

Keep an eye out for more from TARACC as they continue to shine a light on the diverse cultures that shape our local community.
