Farewell to a Faithful Fixture: The NBB Boilers
They’ve been with us through decades of change — the boilers in the Norman Booth Building have quietly powered our centre for over 50 years. Like a trusted colleague, they’ve seen generations of staff come and go, supported countless developments, and kept the building warm and welcoming through it all.

But the time has come to say goodbye.
On Monday 14th July 2025, these long-serving boilers will be carefully dismantled and replaced with a modern, energy-efficient system. This essential upgrade marks the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter for the NBB.

What to Expect During the Works
The replacement project is expected to take just over six weeks. During this time, there will be no hot water in the Norman Booth Building, which means showers will be cold.
To ensure your comfort, we kindly ask all members wishing to shower after their activities to use the facilities at the Jean Brown Indoor Arena, which will remain fully operational throughout the works.

Additional Works and Health Suite Access
Alongside the boiler replacement, we will also be carrying out vital work to install a new cold water main into the plant room, addressing a leak that cannot be reached without this intervention.
As a result, the Health Suite will also be out of action from 14th July – 10th August. We understand this may be disappointing, and we’re offering the following options to support you during this period:

• Members with ULTRA UK or Executive Membership already have access to the Spa Facilities at Fullwell Cross.
• If your current membership does not include this access, you will have the option to upgrade temporarily to enjoy the Fullwell Cross Spa during the works.
