Redbridge Sports Centre Trust Ltd AGM

TO ALL MEMBERS ENTITLED TO VOTE
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING MONDAY 15 MAY 2023
ELECTIONS TO THE EXECUTIVE BOARD

As required by the Trust Constitution, I am writing to invite nominations from members for election to the Trust’s Executive Board (its main administrative and policy-making committee).

Redbridge Sports Centre Trust Limited is both a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee.  It follows that, as a member of the Executive Board, those elected become Trustees under the Charities Act and Directors under the Companies Act.  Positions on the Board are normally for a period of 3 years, and are voluntary and unpaid, with the responsibility of ensuring that the Trust operates properly at all times.  Directors/Trustees are covered by a special insurance policy, paid by the Trust, to protect their interests.

The Executive Board generally meets 4 or 5 times a year but may otherwise meet as required.  Its members are privy to all aspects of the Centre’s operations and, as such, are in a good position to bring forward any views which would further the Centre’s interests.  The Board is primarily responsible for directing overall policy and in approving budgets and major financial decisions.

The Centre is administered by the Chief Executive and Manager, who are responsible for day to day operations supported by a team of Assistant and Duty Managers. The Chief Executive and Manager liaise closely with the Trust Chair.

To apply for election to the Executive Board please complete the Nomination Form in full and return it to the Centre by Friday 24 March 2023 at the latest.

If you are interested in standing, and would like to know more, the Chair, Ras Gohil, would be pleased to invite you to an informal introductory presentation and chat session to discuss what is entailed.  To register your interest in this session, please email us at AGM@RSLonline.co.uk

We would particularly welcome nominations from individuals with knowledge and experience in the areas of estate management, diversity and safeguarding. Further information, including guidance notes setting out the duties of a member of the Executive Board, will be sent to you on request.  All potential nominees will be required to sign an undertaking that there are no impediments to their becoming a Charity Trustee.

Nomination forms can be collected from reception in either building or by emailing Promo@RSLonline.co.uk

If there are more candidates than vacancies in any year, a postal vote will be held of all senior Centre members, with the result announced at the Annual General Meeting. If there are fewer candidates than vacancies, then there will be no postal vote.

By order of the Executive Board

Deputy Chair
